About Me:
Cellist Sarah Tindall inspires wonder in audiences of all types through her rich sound and ability to speak through her instrument (NPR). Drawn in by the cello’s sound in a quartet performance, Sarah’s musical journey began at the age of 5. From the plains of Nebraska to the Juilliard Pre-College Program in New York City, the path brought opportunities to play with the world's top musicians and conductors such as Sir Simon Rattle and Yannick Nézet-Séguin. Sarah’s journey continued to the New England Conservatory (NEC), where she received a degree in Cello Performance and Teaching Artistry under the tutelage of Lluis Claret. She earned numerous principal positions in Baroque and Modern orchestra, received high marks at the school’s concerto competition, and acquired pedagogical training in chamber music from Merry Peckham and members of the Borromeo Quartet.
In all this, Sarah considers her greatest achievement in her studies the tying of excellence in music with love for people through community outreach and teaching fellowships. The fellowships were the impetus for her to seek a more “grass-roots” approach where everyone could enjoy music, whether in the concert hall, classroom, or hospital. In these places, she learned the experiences of audience members unearthed by the music. In turn, she received a front-row seat herself into something much more beautiful than music - the gift of community.
A Midwesterner at heart, Sarah has found a home in Ohio, eager to continue creating these human connections. Here, she continues to share the joy of music with those she teaches and performs for. She currently resides in Wadsworth, engaging with audiences from retirement communities, school classrooms, immigration centers, and beyond. Sarah plays regularly with her string quartet in Cleveland, the Akron Symphony, the Resonance Project of Cleveland, and at her church.
In addition to performance, Sarah maintains an active and growing community of young cello and chamber music students in the Wadsworth and Beachwood areas.
She is thankful for each opportunity to connect with others and share all things good, true, and beautiful.
